THE LEICESTER MODEL ENGINEERS' TRACK

ABBEY PARK, LEICESTER

The first thig we got issued with (after we'd signed in) was a Visitors badge........

The line shares the site with larger ride-on models.

The line is constructed (as you might expect) for running on...................

.... with a well-engineered solid trackbed at the sensible height and a PROPER bridge to get into the middle.

The bridge provides an excellent viewpoint for the extensive steaming areas......

........... which were well-used by our members.

Ian Sheilds walking briskly after his loco, passing the only buildings on the line - it's designed for operation!

We soon managed to fill all the sidings............

........ with an eclectic mix of locos and stock.

There was plenty of room for "resting" operators, including Martin Smith, (centre) who organised it all - Thanks, Martin!

Food and drink came out of the club house, which is designed on Midland Railway lines.

There were quite a few FR trains..................

......... but there was also a Gauge 1 Class 66 with a rake of container flats - something we don't normally see but more-or-less standard on engineering tracks.

There were lots of operators taking it easy.....................

My second train was a Darjeeling van train

.................. and my final one saw a passenger service operated.
