NEVILLE BROWN'S INHAM VALLEY RAILWAY |
|
Welcome from our hosts, Neville and Christine.
The first bit of line you encounter is the upper steaming bay.............
........ from which a descending line, needing care from drivers of freshly-steamed locos, descends to the main line - the junction is on the right of this picture.
Clive Brett's train on the same stretch of track.............
A view of the junction from the opposite direction, and a halt.
Having curved back on itself at the bottom of the garden, it comes past the loco shed.............
......... where a number of locos await their turn of duty.
Another view of the shed, showing the "bottom of the garden" curve
Most garden railway people's wives get a loco named after them - on this line, they get a refreshment concession named after them, too!
Just past The Refreshment Platform is the main station.................
........... which looks very nice...........
....... but which has a ghost!
The line then bends through a right angle to pass in front of a raised bed. It was the height of this bed (and the need to be able to see trains passing behind it) that governed the overall height of the line above ground level.
There is a lift-out bridge at the end of the raised bed, seen on the right of this shot of Neveille's battery electric tram engine, named "Christine" hauling The Wheldon Wagon.
The line then bends through another right angle, passing this water tower with its own steam pumping engine........
...... before we arrive back more-or-less where we started. Bob Newton's IP "Jane" is the train in this shot. |
