BOB NEWTON'S 2013 OPEN DAY

Since I last photographed this line, the "temporary-steaming-siding-over-the-drive-for-open-days" has been abandoned, and this delightful scene created in its place.............

........... with a unique PAINTED Stuart Currie building which very much looks the part!

Today's Open Day was something of a Roundhouse benefit - first up was Steve Acton's Roundhouse based Tal-y-lyn loco..............

......... closely followed by Ian Shields's Edward Thomas.

Matt Acton brought his newly-acquired Riverdale coal fired loco (built on a Roundhouse chassis)...........

................ but seemed to be just a LITTLE confused as to which fuel to use!

Acton Senior's loco was still circulating......................

........... and was joined on the circuit by Acton Jnr's Riverdale, which exhibited Mamod-like tendencies until "tamed" with a rake of stock!

The one non-Roundhouse steam loco was Martin's German Accucraft Saxon with very odd looking valve gear!

Bob acquired this sign..................

............ for the said codgers to sit under!

The ladies have their own sitting area at the opposite end of the garden.

By now, there was more activity in the lower level steaming area.............

............ with a Lady Anne getting a swift rub over...............

.............. before venturing out with a rake of passenger stock.

There were a few Diesels out (and even one of those was a Roundhouse Criccieth Castle)............

It was getting quite busy by now...............

......... with rakes of goods and passenger stock.

The advent of a WDLR loco from Roundhouse produced the first of what I suspect may be many WWI trains............

............. with some VERY nice stock. The owner WAS aware that the van is "out of period"............

The Flagg Fluorspar Co gave its brand new Daisy Railcar and Penrhyn brake an outing..............

............ and there were other "quarry-type" trains to be seen.

This Lady Anne had nameplates in Manx script - appropriate in view of the rake of stock it was hauling.

One of the sidings in the Upper Steamimg Area sticks out over the Lower Level Steaming Area.

The upper level was now getting quite badly congested...............

"I'm reporting you to the RSPCRL!" (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Roundhouse Locomotives) because the lead loco was hauling the second (dead) loco AND the rake of stock up the spiral.

"Clag Corner" as Matt raises steam again...............

............... beforre getting ready to set off again.

Martin's Saxon with an appropriate rake of stock.................

............ whilst another freight drifts around..............

.

"How to Capture a Video with your Phone..............."

.......... and finally - The Video - the line's been Ratified!
