THE LATE CALVIN GREEN'S
DIXON GREEN LIGHT RAILWAY

Calvin used to be our northernmost East Midlands member when he lived in Dronfield, and we kept in touch even though he moved back into Yorkshire. His Dixon Green Light Railway near Wakefield was built in a fairly small suburban garden, which was dominated by the railway - a "railway in a garden" rather than "a garden with a railway in".

As he was a life-long batchelor, this didn't matter, though he did provde seats for "sitting out" in.....................

There were a number of branches off the two, completely separate, running lines. This branch featured a triangle.

There was a permanent sunshade over part of the back of the house, most welcome on this VERY hot day!

The branch in the shade was colonised by the MDLR...........

One of Calvin's specialites was concrete buildings - this church was one of his bigger ones...........

......... and he also did a windmill.................

...........a castle................

............ and this row of cottages and shops.

Another of the branches was colonised by Roger Coleman...................

........... whilst Andrew Latham ran off a siding off the main line - this was his first offering.

Selwyn ran his Lady Anne and a rake of Mamod stock.

"I don't care what YOU want to do, I'm the Controller and I've got the radio control!"

The triangle features a number of loco sheds.

MDLR in residence - first outing for GYTHA following her overhaul and repaint.

These Edrigs really are quite pretty (and the wagons aren't half good, too!)

A junior photographer............

............... concentrating VERY hard!
