THE ELSECAR GARDEN RAILWAY SHOW 2006 |
......... saw the MDLR's sheep wagons entering service. I broke two golden rules on this occasion - I took out totally untested rolling stock ('coz I'd only finished one at 0925 that morning) AND I came to Yorkshire without my passport! Fortunately, they let me out again............. I was operating on Mount Dowd, where there is a bandstand (with a CD player underneath).......... ............... and these three ostriches - I don't quite know why.................. Some of us had rather more wagons than others - AND he could propel the rake, too! The Garratt Owners generated clag, as usual............ ............... and at Timpdon Sheds, they were going in for long rakes, too! ............... with a rather nice Hunslet on the head end. It was a great surprise to see Richard Longley NOT behind the stand............................. Chris Moody was given a recalcitrant coal-fired Alco to steam for a trader.......................... ...............Whilst on Timpdon, this Thing clone had appeared............ ............... with lots of Meccano chain thrashing about when it was running................ ............... and a single cylinder oscillator on the top. D'you think the blower goes on THIS way??"............... This Garrat was remarkably quiet and clag-free - the clue was in the pair of switches in the cab. The live steam IOMR impressed, as always. Rowlands Lodge was its usual busy self.............. ............... Though this nun obviously hadn't won the audition! Outside, the Big Railway was running Daisy the Railcar. I wonder what was in the "hole" in this display? Why sheep, of course! Chris had now got help............. ............... who was pumping the pump of the now in steam loco with some vigour................ ............... but as the water level wouldn't come up (even when you looked at the gauge with a torch) the fire was dropped. |
