THE FAR REACHES & EAST DERBYSHIRE RAILWAY |
The FR & ED Railway was a level (ish) line in the back garden of a house in Long Eaton, with an embankment carrying 305mm/foot scale models running past. The loco running on my arrival was this gas-fired Garratt............ .The weather was cold and dry, which meant that the steam plume from the loco almost totally hid the driver.................... ...... revealed here in all his glory! A close - up of the Garratt. Lady Sybil soon took over the running.........................
..... and was eventually joined by Sir Samuel............ ...... who eventually took over the duty unaided. Eventually, Loco Loco (well, it is numbered 9) rescued Sir Samuel when something ran out......... ..... and then took over for a circuit or two - the first time it's hauled passenger stock in my ownership, and something it wouldn't normally do at home. MDLR power on display! This model sported a rather unusually-shaped chimney......... ....... which turned out to be a very effective condensate trap............... ....... made from something which pre-dated computers! Another view. |
