IAN SHIELDS' ASHFIELDS LIGHT RAILWAY

You can tell when you're at the right place, because of all the parked cars..........

........... but it's nice to see the sign as well.

Ian's line is very much "a railway in a garden" rather than "a garden with a railway" but the view from the kitchen window's good!

The bridges all lift out when the line is not in use.

From the bridge, the line continues on a wall, until the ground level rises to meet the track............

......... where there's a passing loop and siding.................

........ which by 2013 had acquired a village.

........ before you arrive at Ashfields station, seen here with the MDLR's "LADY SYBIL" on a passenger train.

This is a very attractive area.............

......... with a small yard, and loco area which has acquired an engine shed since this picture was taken.

This area had, by 2013, been redeveloped!

Things in this area are controlled by Ashfields Box............

........ in which are the controls, which work well until the tire goes down! (It's a Del-Aire setup)

This is all overlooked by the church of a parish which has suffered a number of deaths since my last visit as there are now many more gravestones in the churchyard!

After the station, the line goes through a short tunnel.............

......... where it's well worth getting down low................

............ to catch trains emerging.

Our host, demonstrating the technique.

They breed 'em S - T - R - O - N - G in Ravenshead!

I suppose if you HAVE to have a garden gnome, it ought to be THIS one!
