STEVE HIND'S LONG DALE LIGHT RAILWAY |
The Railway's name is proclaimed "Loud & Proud"........ ................. though he says this isn't the amount of earth he moved to make it!. "Werk............" The chickens keep an eye on things. The Railway is basically a "dog bone"............. ........... with a temporary additional steaming area off. The two tracks then run down the garden (not too close together)............... ........ to the loop at the other end. The line has descended one (full size) sleeper's depth to the bottom of the loop....................... ..............there is then a testing gradient-on-a-sharp-curve................................... ..............................which is testing for drivers.. The track is fastened to a wire mesh sub-base by very small cable ties (seen here in the steaming bay) ......... which is fastened to another mesh sub-base.............. (photo - Steve Hind) .................. which is all buried in the ballast.(photo - Steve Hind) This shot shows the track before laying.(photo - Steve Hind) |
