JOHN PEARSON'S 2009 OPEN DAY |
As previous visitors know, John & Margaret's line is at the bottom of a tarraced garden - the MDLR's Patent Trolley is not much use here! This Festiniog loco is in fact a Mamod with a drop-on body - the first of a couple of surprising locos today. A "Douglas" was going so well I had a job capturing is without it disappearing behind a tree! This loco had a neat rake of stock........... Gag Torton is alive and well and living in Derbyshire! Off around the back............................ ..... through the cutting................ .......... and around the loop at the other end. Andrew's "Linda" didn't want to play.......... ............ so he gave up............. ........... and ran this delightful little battery electric instead! There was lots of YAK, as usual............. ..... and a brand new Mamod made a couple of circuits, light engine. It was VERY stiff (as one might expect)......... ........... and its owner had a very simple and effective way of gently stopping it in an emergency. However, you have to be a good, accurate shot with the duster! The food was good.......... ........... as always. The MDLR's 2009 Touring Train ran under both steam and battery power............... .............. seen here crossing John's bridge. This was going to be captioned "Peter playing with his Willi" until somebody pointed out that it was a Konrad! Alan Bailey's Double Fairlie ran like a sewing machine, but all was not as it seemed........... ....... as it was powered by a vertical pair of Mamod cylinders driving one power bogie.......... ........... seen in more detail here............ ............. with the boiler in the middle and gas tank and R/C at the other end. |
